Hi all.

Does any one know of a source for Super Deep Runner Slamo Hornets?
Cheers,

Dan.

You have to go to a European website to get them. Quite hard to track down. Use Dave's links list elsewhere on this site and get surfing.

I always stock up on them during my trips to Holland, they have proved impossible to source here. Chris Liebrant (Chairman of the LAS) is supposedly the main UK importer of Salmo lures, yet he doesn't stock them .

Worth tracking down as on their day they will outfish everything else in your box. Perch kryptonite

Perch magnets indeed. I've seen a Polish website selling them, but hoped I wouldn't have to buy from overseas. I've seen a few on ebay too, so let the bidding commence. Thanks chaps.

They are amazing perch catchers (especially when trolled) but they do catch a lot of tiny perch when a slightly larger lure might be picking up a better stamp of fish. It's crazy that they are not available through the official UK importer.

I was very impressed with the lure I borrowed (then stole) from Artur, the Hector, it doesn't look like a deep diver but it was getting down 11ft on the troll. It is rather like a fat Hornet.

Yeah i've been impressed with a lot of Gloog's baits and come to think of it, Arturs service has been great (keep up the good work!)
I guess I really want to try out the SDR Hornet because i've heard so many good things about them, i'll keep looking.

Ps Dave, are you any closer to your Perch article?

I posted the report about the perch day on the original thread a few days ago, please pay attention!

The H4SDR Hornet is the trolling lure for perch, with one proviso, it does catch a lot of tiny perch. You have to think about this when using it, you might catch half a dozen 4oz perch in half an hour and you think you're busy and succeeding but maybe a 7cm Thundercrank, or Taildancer or Hector might have produced a better fish. You can't hook a big one while you're unhooking a little one!

I'm down to my last functional one which worked its stuff for me today and found a few, all the others have been battered so much that they won't troll any more, I hope to stock up in Holland next month.

I picked up 3 nice new ones from Fauna Hengelsport, for the amount of perch fishing I do that will keep me going until my next trip.

Prices are not so hot over there now with the exchange rate being so lousy but it's great to see a tackle shop stocked with near-complete ranges of Salmo and Rapala. Lots of soft plastics too. About a quarter of the floor space is lure stuff including St Croix rods, now built to Dutch spec for jigging without huge spinning line guides but they're a bit pricey for a poor boy like me.

Fauna is one of my favourite shops. I can browse at my leisure whilst my wife and kids look around the market and then meet them for a nice meal in the restaurant next door (hiding my purchases of course ).

Just back from a few weeks in Poland. Wroclaw has an excellent tackle shop called Krokodyl which is a fully stocked shop with live bait tanks and caters for all types of fishing. It is well stocked with salmo/rapala/relax lures, jig heads and hundreds of different lure rods. Exchange rate isnt the best at the minute but salmo hornets and butchers (all sizes) for 15 zloty, about £3.40 isnt bad.

That's 25% cheaper than in Holland.
