Sounds like you've been taking something from Miami Vice too!

NM

I proof read that too: about a dozen times! Knackered!

Obviously:

...and the speed those boats shifted about was like something out of 'Miami Vice'

Here's a very brief summary of the 2 days -

Saturday - too windy to get on the big water so to a local river and dead-arm, it was still very rough on the big river with the added spice of some large ships adding their wake to the maelstrom. The fishing was not easy just 6 small zander between the boats, 4 pike and maybe 3 dozen perch (Rene with the drop shot caught 20 of them).

Sunday - out on the Haringvliet, it was just about fishable but the usual dozens of boats on a Sunday were absent. The waves were pretty big and belting across. We caught around 50-60 zander between the two boats but nothing over 4lb or so. The conditions were pretty extreme yet it felt remarkably safe in the big boats if a little bumpy... The conditions did make travelling across the water very difficult so we spent most of the time in just one area apart from an hour with Michel checking out another spot just 5 painful (very bumpy, skipping the waves lying on the floor of the boat) minutes across the main channel but it only produced a couple of fish.

It was exhausting, and certainly not a cheap weekend but we caught and laughed enough to make it a special experience. A bit of luck with the weather and we could easily have caught 4 times as many fish.

I heard from Martin that it was tough going. Such a pity as it could have been so much better. Hopefully Tim and Martin got to see something of what I used to bore them with at our old LAS chapter meetings.

Has Tim ordered his Alumacraft Magnum 165 and Humminbird 1197 yet?

NM

The boat was lovely, though the Marcraft was at least its equal. The finder is absolutely fantastic and would definitely be an advantage on any boat, though for 3K I think they can keep it!

Still, in 5 years the technology will probably have come in to the affordable range for most normal people - so something to look forward to.

I'm guessing that's the sonar that Michel showed at the 2008 convention? A god bit of kit, can't wait until they get cheaper!

A pity about the weather but sounds like a good weekend all the same.

No good for you Matt in your portaboat if you got one there would be no room left for you to sit down.

We had a great time anyway and it's easy to see the potential of the place, after looking through Michels pictures, I'd like to try again.
